Selecting the right barcode scanning solution for your business requires a lot of nuanced understanding of your team and your workplace. Some solutions seem great on paper, but in practice, are more clunky than canny. We’re proud of ERP Suites Scanability, the unique approach it employs from a technical aspect, and the support philosophy we bring to its implementation and management, but it’s not for everyone.
Here are a few reasons why Scanability might not be for you, so you can make the best decision for your business.
When network and/or hardware problems result in a loss of connectivity, some warehouse scanning solutions will let your personnel continue working by saving the data they scan and forwarding it once connectivity is restored. This process is referred to as “store and forward.” At present, Scanability does not offer this functionality, although we’ve incorporated it into our development roadmap and hope to offer it in the future.
Scanners and other devices running Microsoft’s CE operating system are not currently supported by ERP Suites Scanability. If you're using Android devices in your warehouse, you can continue to use these with Scanability as our product works with all Android devices.
ERP Suites Scanability is compatible with JD Edwards releases from 9.2 to today. It will not work with JD Edwards releases older than 9.2. Since it is Orchestration-based, your JDE release needs to support Orchestrations. Find out more about the minimum technical requirements to run Scanability.
After dealing with incompatible, hard-to-implement scanning solutions, it’s understandable to be skeptical of trying another. Now that you understand the key requirements and limitations of Scanability, you’re in a better position to make the right decision. ERP Suites Scanability is an excellent tool and many companies are able to employ it in their workplace, but if you're still unsure how your current stack aligns with Scanability, schedule quick assessment call with our team today.
